I couldn’t have been happier the other day when out of nowhere my roommate came to me and pitched a new idea for saving the entire household additional money.
She said that for some time now she had been thinking about reducing our energy usage in the house so that we could keep more money in our pockets. The two of us were definitely shelling out a lot of money for our general utilities each month. We were both trying to save up some cash for quite a while, but it was really difficult when we had such ridiculous energy bills. The energy bill, in particular, was the worst of the utilities and contributed vastly to our financial issues. My roommate had been thinking about this and doing some research, it turned out. She told me that we could easily save more cash by cutting down our cooling system usage throughout the day. She said, if we could turn off the AC in the middle of the day when we were at work, this would literally you save us 50% on energy. I inquired how she intended to remember to turn down the thermostat everyday before work, and she told me she already had taken care of it. Apparently, we had a programmable thermostat this entire time, which was capable of managing our cooling system throughout the day. It turns out, I just never learned how to use the air temperature control properly. Who knows how much money I could have saved if I had simply read through the manual.
