I know this is a silly thing to complain about and most people would kill to be in my shoes, but my boyfriend likes to cook way too much. He’s a regular master chef and makes the most delicious meals I’ve ever had in my life, every single night. I am extremely spoiled, and I cannot believe that I found a man who is so capable of creating fine cuisine, on top of all his other fantastic skills and qualities. That being said, he needs to tone it down a little bit, because it’s causing our energy bills to skyrocket during the summer time. He uses the stovetop for cooking meat and making intricate sauces, which causes the indoor air temperature to increase sharply every night. The thermostat is always set to a moderately low temperature and our central cooling unit usually handles these settings very well; however, when the kitchen abruptly heats up the house, our air conditioner has a difficult time bringing the entire house back down to the correct temperature. I can hear the AC chugging along at full capacity for hours after we eat dinner, and the house takes a long time to obtain the correct air quality again. Sometimes it isn’t even back to the desired 75 degrees by the time we lay down for bed at night, and I worry that we’re wearing out our AC unit prematurely. Our energy bills have been steadily increasing along with the outdoor air temperature, and I can’t afford to keep battling the summer temperatures combined with the harsh kitchen conditions much longer!
